Autumn's Bondage 101: Bondage Gag Wear and Care

Once you get the green light from a person to wear a gag, it’s really easy to put the toy on them. It can vary depending on the type, but the general rules are quite the same. Come and join me in this journey towards learning how to put on a gag:

  • Once you and your partner have decided to try a gag, you should come up with a safe word. Since most likely they won’t be able to speak, you need to decide on a signal. It can be something like humming a certain song to make a signal with your hands, to jangling keys… whatever works for you to understand the play needs to stop. You will also need to make sure they don’t have the flu, a stuffy nose, allergies or something that hinders their breathing capacity and they don’t have any jaw issues.
  • When everything is cleared up, have your partner hold the gag in their mouth. At the same time, you will be holding the straps and putting them in place. If it’s a bit gag, your partner should keep it in their mouths like they would with any other thing. If it’s a ball gag, it may be a bit harder to get it in but never push too hard. The ball should be behind the teeth; so make your partner open their mouth as you push it in. They shouldn’t feel pain, just some pressure. If they are hurting, the ball is probably too big and you need to get a smaller gag. If you choose an O-Ring gag, you will need to slide the ring horizontally inside the mouth; once the ring is in, turn it around so it sits vertically behind the teeth.
  • Then, you will pull and adjust the straps at the back of their heads. How tight? It will depend on the wearer and how advanced they are. If they are beginners, you probably want to let it a bit loose. But remember, if someone is wearing a gag, they shouldn’t be able to spit it out. The straps of a ball gag should be pushed into the mouth’s corners and the ball has to stay inside the mouth. Just as well, the O-ring straps should also keep the ring inside the mouth. And a bit gag has to push the corners of the mouth so they keep it open.
  • A word of warning: locking strap gags should only be used by pros, not by beginners. It can be quite panic inducing to be locked in one, so you should take precautions like always have the keys on you, don’t let them wear it for too long and keep a pair of scissors nearby for emergencies.
  • Once you two are done playing and have had plenty of fun, you will need to remove it. Your partner should hold the gag while you untie the straps at the back. Then, they can take it out themselves or you can take it out for them. Be careful because their jaw will probably be sore. And don’t forget to clean your gag and sterilize if it’s possible!
