Autumn's Bondage 101: Beginner's Guide to Ball Gags

Gags are used to silence a much active submissive during bondage sessions…or to mute a talkative partner wink*. They exist in several types, but probably the most common ones are the good ol’ ball gags. They also come in various forms, so don’t think for a second they are “a one size fits all” (what actually is like that, at the end?).

The one you choose is important for comfort reasons and because they can change how you play with them. The ones that are larger and not breathable give more freedom to the person (because they can moan and talk and do as they wish, the gag will silence them quite effectively), and they will also diminish the amount of oxygen the wearer can inhale (duh!) so they will have to breathe with their nose and that in turns during…heavy stimulation and panting, can lead to a more powerful orgasm. Visually, they can have many attachments so you can take advantage and add other toys.

So, beginners will want to start with gags that have a small ball, bonus if they are flexible. The ones made for newbies have a high level of comfort and they tend to not have the need to open the mouth or jaw too much. It can also help the ones that are made out of “nice” materials instead of “hard” ones so they don’t get too scared or intimidated. Keep in mind the wearer should breathe easily while wearing a beginner’s gag and will also have to be able to make sounds.

When you move to an intermediate level, you will want to look for a gag that is made out of harder materials and features a buckle fastening. More advanced gags will open the mouth a bit more than the beginner ones and will also feel stricter and harder; however they will not silence the wearer completely.

The harder and advanced gags are meant to have the most possible restraint and they open the mouth as big as possible. They are also made out of harder materials think metal and leather, and some are even lockable to make the experience a bit more fun. The mouthpiece will be larger and the wearer will probably be silenced completely. So, take your pick! (Always making sure their breathing is not compromised, of course wink*)
